Your holiday resort La Gaulette and the surrounding area
The house is located in a quiet area surrounded by other holiday homes and private properties. The supermarket with its well-stocked offer is within walking distance (650 m). There is also a pharmacy, a small cafe, bar with billiards, surf shop, clothes shop and an ATM. There are also several small restaurants with local specialties, a souvenir shop and 4-5 other kiteboarding shops in La Gaulette.
La Gaulette is located in the very southwest of Mauritius, surrounded by beautiful nature. Ideal for those looking for peace and quiet and sports enthusiasts. It is a 10-minute drive to the beach of le Morne, one of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius. At the same time, the outermost tip of le Morne‘s is also the kite and surf hot spot on the island. But hiking enthusiasts will also get their money's worth: an ascent of Le Morn’s "Sklavenberg" or a hike through the Black River Gorge. The sights of “seven-colored earth”, Alexandra Falls, Chamarel rum factory, Ebony Forest, Grand Bassin (Hindu pilgrimage site), Casela nature and adventure park, Bois Cherie tea factory are in the immediate vicinity.
It is around 1 hour 15 driving minutes from the airport.
La Gaulette is directly opposite the island "Ile aux Benitier", also known as Coconut Island. This island is uninhabited and has no infrastructure. Various providers offer boat trips with picnics to the island. These usually also include a visit to the "Crystal Rock". This is a coral formation sticking out of the sea. Whether with a motorboat or a catamaran, the day trips can be combined with dolphin watching.
